GrandCentral: It’s Alive!

Google recently announced that the GrandCentral service they bought some time ago is finally going to be reborn as Google Voice. I’ve been a GrandCentral user for a long time, and I have been afraid that Google might kill it: we haven’t seen any new features in quite a while.

I’m very excited to see what they are going to do with it. I love the fact that they are adding SMS capabilities. One of my frustrations with GrandCentral was that I had to explain to people that I would be texting them from a different number and that wasn’t the number that I wanted to be called on.
I am still not seeing the instructions for how to switch over to the new service, as Google says I should, but hopefully that will come later today.
